LifeSiteNews.com - Widely circulated daily news reports on important developments in Canada, the United States and around the world, with a special focus on United Nations matters. Its purpose is to provide balance and more accurate coverage on culture, life and family matters than is usually given by other media. Available by free daily email subscription and on LifeSite.

I highly recommend this daily email newsletter.  It keeps up up to date on life issues that rarely get national media attention.  Give it a try! http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/subscribe/

STOPP is an organization of parents. Parents who share the belief that we have the God-given right and obligation to raise our children, from the moment of conception. Parents who believe that our obligation extends to making sure that any monies collected from us (either by the government, by a company that sells us products, or by some charitable fund) is not used to support the slaughter of innocent babies or the abuse of our growing children. And, finally, parents who believe our school systems should be dedicated to educating our children on basic skills and not using their time for the social engineering programs of PP and other groups. http://www.all.org/

I recommend this site to educate yourself on what Planned Parenthood is really all about.  To receive the weekly STOPP newsletter, go to the site above and click on STOPP Report.

Ultrasound Project   Our goal is to encourage Councils in the four surrounding districts to financially support ArborVitae's Woman's Center, recently opened in Downtown Ann Arbor, to obtain and support an ultrasound machine (for more information on ArborVitae, see http://www.annarborvitae.com/).  Recent update: 17 letters were sent out to the Grand Knights of each Council reminding them of the project and asking them to participate with a donation.

Our goal is to encourage Councils in the four surrounding districts to financially support ArborVitae's Woman's Center, recently opened in Downtown Ann Arbor, to obtain and support an ultrasound machine (for more information on ArborVitae, see http://www.annarborvitae.com/).  Recent update: 17 letters were sent out to the Grand Knights of each Council reminding them of the project and asking them to participate with a donation.

Goal: Raise $10-15K from 17 councils in southcentral Michigan to purchase and support an ultrasound machine at ArborVitae Woman's Center in Ann Arbor.  Studies have shown that 85% of abortion-minded women decide against abortion after viewing their babies in utero.

Long-term Goal: Promote this project to the State Knights of Columbus at a state meeting so that all Michigan Pro-life woman's centers have an opportunity to obtain an ultrasound machine to help pregnant women choose life for their babies. And wouldn't it be great if this caught on with Knights Councils in all of the States!

Rosaries at Planned Parenthood

Carrying on the tradition of Bill ? from our Council, we have set up 2 hours a month for Knights and St. Andrew parishioners to say rosaries at Planned Parenthood (3100 Professional Dr., off of Huron Parkway just south of Washtenaw).  Those dates are 9:30 AM on both the 1st Friday and the 4th Saturday of the month.

Are we making a difference?  The answer is a resounding YES!  We don't have any confirmed "saves" as yet but I think the most important result is our prayers.  The power of prayer is such a mystery in our lives, in that we don't always know the true benefits of our prayers.  Speaking from my experience, prayer many times gets you out of yourself and into a more healthy relationship with our Lord.  And I believe saying the rosary will start and/or deepen your relationship with Mary.

So, give saying the rosary at Planned Parenthood a try!  You have nothing to lose.  It will put a face to the women and men choosing abortions and using contraceptives so that our prayers can be more personal.  And who knows, our presence and prayers may turn a young mother away from abortion and towards Life!

 40 Days For Life

This fall, from Sept. 26 to Nov. 4, our community will be uniting with 90 cities in 33 states for the largest simultaneous pro-life mobilization in history - the nationwide 40 Days for Life campaign.  Some leaders are saying that, with God's help, this effort could mark the beginning of the end of abortion in America.

40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life campaign that has generated measurable lifesaving results in every community where it has been implemented.  Some cities have reported as much as a 28% drop in local abortion numbers.  The 40 Days for Life campaign is made up of three key components: Prayer and fasting, round-the-clock peaceful vigil, and community outreach.

Learn more by visiting www.40daysforlife.com/annarbor and discover how you can "speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves" or by contacting Paul Dobrowolski at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it .  Those interested Knights from our council and surrounding Councils are asked to pray at the hard to fill hours from midnight to 6 AM.

Umbilical stem cell advances don't make the news.  Two recent advances in life-affirming stem cell research received almost no media attention in recent months.  Researchers from the UK created mini-livers using stem cells from umbilical cord stem cells whild U of Minnisota scientists were abel to turn umbilical cord stem cells into lung cells.  Visit www.stemcellresearchcures.com for information in ethical kinds of stem cell research which don't kill human embryos.
